Looking back on a successful Alpe d' Huzes
June 3rd 2010; Alpe d’HuZes 21 curves, length: 14 kilometers, 8,1% average slope, 1071 meter altitude.
Together with 2850 other cyclists and a handful of runners we climbed the Alpe d’Huez in order to raise money for the KWF Cancer Foundation. The goal was set on 10 million Euros which was already reached before we even started.

My team existed of 12 people; 11 cyclists and one runner. After a full year of training and fund raising we reached the absolute climax on Thursday June 3rd.

With a lot of media attention and thousands of supporters the mountain was the domain of people fighting to get to the top as many times as possible, with the ultimate goal to make it to the top 6 times in one day. Not only healthy people made their way to the top. Also sick people, people with chemo in their body and people with all kinds of disabilities due to cancer were present and showed the world that we live by the motto: Never Ever Quit!

In total our team climbed the Alpe d’Huez 52 times, between 05.00 and 20,00hrs. We are proud to be able to do something for those who suffer every day. This is for all those people fighting cancer. Our mission: To facilitate and inspire people to lead Happy and Healthy lives in Harmony with cancer.

Thanks to companies like Remain Software our team was able to raise over 50.000 Euros for KWF Cancer Foundation.
